Romp, expedition, adventure, odyssey, quest. Along the way, maybe I’ll find better words to describe my life. My days are filled with the work of raising children, serving a retired canine racing queen, trying to run when my body allows it, hugging my husband, choosing between board games, books, and sleep, and never being truly bored.
I made the granola last night so my son could try a recipe from a video he watched at school. He was so excited to get to work layering his parfait this morning that I needed to remind him to put his glasses on. When it was as good as he had hoped it would be, he made two more for breakfast tomorrow and the day after. This photo gives a snapshot of one of the main reasons I feel like recipes with five ingredients or less are so important: my son went to school today uplifted because he made something for himself. 5 ingredient or less recipes are ways to start and finish projects, to create and build something for yourself or others, to remember that you don’t have to do something huge to still do something meaningful.
